Book Reviews

Viivi's take on In Bt."The first thing I noticed when opening the In Bt. on my computer was that the contents pages didn’t fit correctly on my screen. Even after opening the book on my iPad the content table didn’t please my eye and was unclear. The “pg” next to every page was unnecessary and the lines around every chapter, page, and number don’t look good. But I liked the chapter titles a lot. “The fates of the dreamful” and “Epilogue, right?” were my favorites. These interesting but funny titles make the story seem worth of reading.

I really like the narrator’s voice in this book but I also know that not everyone will like it. In Bt. is written using style resembling “rambling”. Some of the paragraphs start like in any other book, telling the story, but end up being long rambling and explanation of the thoughts and ideas the writer has. I could compare this style to the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy but in easily readable form. Fortunately, this rambling isn’t as clearly seen later in the book, but I would have edited some remarks out of the “beginning” chapter. It may make some of the readers stop if they are not used to writing style like this.

.

All in all the style this book is written gives it original vibe and fits well together with the story. The idea of In Bt. seems unique and at least I haven’t read books like this before. There are some books about angels and especially books about angels for young adults but the plot in this book doesn’t resemble any other story I have read. In Bt. reminds me of old fairytale adventure moved to the modern age. In some parts, there are a lot of lines and characters talking but it’s not necessarily a bad thing.

The best part of In Bt. was the ending. I felt like reading more of these characters and their story.

Like I said before, this book isn’t for everyone but that’s usually the case with all books. Some people like and seek for books written like In Bt. They are bored to reading “normal” fiction and want something more beautifully written. I think In Bt. fits that category.

I wouldn’t change anything from this book if we don’t count changing the contents table and cutting down the rambling a little bit in the first chapters. But even those things are just my opinion and small things when compared to the whole story. I will read In Bt. again soon when I have more time on my hands because the story needs more of my attention than I was able to give for it right now." -Viivi Severina Jan 22 2018

Viivi is a dear lady. And yes, I have updated the kindle content's page to reflect her wishes, due to a breakthrough innovation that allowed for that happen. Thanks Viivi!

A dark fantasy reviewed"Sometimes I find unique books to read. That’s what I found in the book, In Bt., by James Kidac. It’s an adult fantasy book that I wanted to share with my followers. It’s a different kind of fantasy book that builds a world of angels and demons in between our own. It is written in the unique perspective of one of the angels, sort of like X-Files meets Touched by An Angel, but edgier.

Akira is an angel that lives in the between of the real world. Yet, he functions in the real world, looking and searching for the hope of humanity. He battles other creatures, demons and wizards, almost in the D& D fights I imagined when younger. But he’s lost trying to find himself, and has settled in a puzzling niche for himself, keeping the balance for humanity. That’s when he meets her, and the sparks fly.

This unique dark fantasy has a literary voice that gives Akira an interesting perspective. It takes a while to get drawn into the world, but once you do, it starts to latch onto your perceptions of reality, dark versus evil, light versus good, and how it all hangs in the balance. It will be a great addition to your dark fantasy bookshelf." -Tiffany Turner 18 Jan 2018

A book review of In Bt.!

"This book is one of its own, I must tell you. The author veered from the well traveled path of direct storytelling and traversed into the abstract form. I am not sure if everyone will love this approach though. But for those who will, it is a book to be read and pondered upon. The musings of Purplepants

‘In Bt’ gives you a peek into author’s personality and you connect with him on a subconscious level. He presents the world as it is today without sugarcoating the bitter delicacies.

I think if you are one for psychology, satire or looking for a different perspective of the world you reside in, this book is worth the read." -PurplePants 18 Jan 2018
